Wood Fired Facet Vase

Shiny metallic dark purple vase that has been thrown on the wheel, faceted, coated with a slip, and wood fired in a handmade anagama kiln for 48 hrs. 

The process of wood firing is unique, with no piece ending up the same each time, as the effects are so dependent on the flame, ash, and even the type of wood that is used during the process. This vase was placed on its side, with ocean shells leaving imprints behind as a further accent and juxtaposition to the smooth metallic finish of the vase.
